SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York said Tuesday that he will let "due process take its course" before deciding whether to discipline Ray McDonald after the defensive tackle was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Raphael Varane Jersey . In his first public comments since McDonalds arrest Aug. 31, York told San Franciscos KNBR radio that he will not punish McDonald until he sees "evidence that it should be done or before an entire legal police investigation shows us something." "I would much rather take shots at my reputation than to put somebody down and judge them before an entire investigation has taken place," York told the radio station. Yorks comments echoed many of the remarks made by 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke in the last two weeks. He reiterated that the team will not tolerate domestic violence and he considers McDonalds arrest serious, however, he repeatedly said he will not act until the investigation is completed. "Im comfortable if my reputation is going to take shots throughout this process," York said. "But my character is I will not punish somebody until we see evidence that it should be done or before an entire legal police investigation shows us something." McDonald practiced all of last week and started in San Franciscos 28-17 win at Dallas on Sunday. Public pressure has been building on the 49ers to sit McDonald down while prosecutors decide whether to charge him. The uproar escalated Monday following TMZs release of new video showing Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator. The running back has been released by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL, which initially suspended Rice two games. York stressed that the public should not lump McDonald and Rice together just because both were arrested on domestic violence charges. "Each case is its own separate case. Ray McDonald is not Ray Rice," York said. "And if theres another one, its not the same as the previous. Each case is its own individual entity. And as a society, we have a sense of saying, Well, you didnt do it right with Ray Rice right away so you need to overdo it with Ray McDonald or whoever else it is. And I dont believe thats the country that we live in. I dont think thats a fair way to approach it." McDonald is out on $25,000 bail following his arrest at his San Jose home where he was celebrating his 30th birthday with teammates and friends. San Jose police have released few details surrounding McDonalds arrest, only saying that officers at the scene saw the alleged victim with "visible injuries." McDonalds arrest came just days after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced tougher penalties for players accused of domestic violence, including a six-week suspension for a first offence and at least a year for a second. Asked about Goodells handling of Rices situation and if he should be reprimanded by owners, York said "it was obviously acknowledged that it was bungled by the league, and they came back and corrected it. Ray didnt take the field in the regular season. He was already down. They suspended him for the year. Could it have happened sooner? I dont understand the video, what was seen, when it was seen, how it wasnt seen. I dont know the answers to that." York said he hadnt spoken publicly about McDonalds arrest until now because the 49ers speak in "one voice." He said his views were expressed earlier by Harbaugh and Baalke, and he felt that was enough. With multiple arrests in the past few years, York admitted the 49ers "havent lived up to that expectation" of acting in a responsible way off the field. He said the team is doing everything it can to make changes. As far as enforcing discipline, though, York cited flaws in the leagues collective bargaining agreement with the players union. "We certainly need to take a very hard look at ourselves as a league and figure out a better way to do this," York said. "Coming back to Ray McDonald, weve got a collective bargaining agreement in place that makes it difficult for the teams to take an action, for the league to take action. We need to set any negotiating aside and figure if theres a better way through collective bargaining and through everything to look at domestic violence." Luca Zidane Jersey . Canada Day is here and with it comes Free Agent Frenzy as the NHLs 30 teams storm out of the gate for signing season. Iker Casillas Jersey . Ribery terrorized the Schalke defence throughout and put the home side ahead in the 36th minute when he chipped the goalkeeper before stroking the ball into the empty net. The French winger struck again after the interval, combining with Thomas Mueller on the left before firing a deflected shot beyond the helpless Timo Hildebrand in the 55th, as Bayern bounced back from Wednesdays 1-0 loss at FC Basel in the Champions League. www.realmadridfcprohop.us/Gareth-Bale-Real-Madrid-Jersey/ . - David Tomasek had two goals in regulation time and was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Belleville Bulls upset the Oshawa Generals 6-5 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action.LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather Jr.s dominating win over Canelo Alvarez was the richest fight ever, a box-office smash at the arena and on television. Showtime said Thursday that at least 2.2 million homes bought the pay-per-view for the bout, second only to the 2.44 million homes in Mayweathers 2007 fight against Oscar De La Hoya. With the highest pay-per-view boxing price -- at an average of more than $70 -- the fight will generate nearly $150 million in revenue in TV sales alone. Nevada boxing regulators say the gate for the bout was just more than $20 million, also a record. A total of 16,146 seats were sold for the event at an average price of almost $1,240 per ticket. Promoter Richard Schaefer said total revenues would approach $200 million upon final count, surpassing the $165 million generated by the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight. "You sort of reach for the stars but you dont always catch them," Schaefer said. "I was reaching for the stars but the way this fight caught fire surprised everyone." Mayweather earned a guaranteed $41.5 million for the fight, while Alvarez was guaranteed $5 million. Both will make more based on a percentage of the pay-per-view revenue. "It will make big paychecks even bigger," Schaefer said. "I dont know how big but certainly bigger. Much bigger." Mayweather was as impressive as the ticket sales, outclassing Alvarez and winning nearly every round on his way to a majority decision. He remained unbeaten in 45 fights, while Alvarez lost for the first time in 44 professional fights. The fight was a hot ticket from the time it was announced, even with ringside seats selling foor $2,000. Mateo Kovacic Jersey. Those proved a bargain in the days leading up to the event when some tickets in the resale market were being offered for as much as $29,000. Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer said that the total gate of just over $20 million eclipsed the $18.4 million earned from 17,000 tickets for the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight. Both bouts were held at the MGM Grand arena. Only 50 comp tickets were distributed, and promoters said before the fight that tickets were in such short supply that celebrities who normally watch for free were offering to pay. Showtime said that the 2.2 million PPV figure was a conservative number, based on preliminary reports from cable and satellite TV distributors. When fully reported, the network said, the total buys could challenge the record set by Mayweather and De La Hoya. Schaefer, head of Golden Boy Promotions, said he knew from the crowds attending the opening press tour in June that the fight was going to be big. Golden Boy spent nearly $10 million advertising the fight, and promoted it heavily in Hispanic markets. "It just shows you that the health of the sport is good," Schaefer said. "Theres not too many other sports than can generate $200 million in revenue in one night." Golden Boy said previously that the fight generated the highest rating in Mexican television history, with nearly eight out of 10 households in Mexico tuning in to the free broadcast by Televisia. "What I kept on saying to all those negative voices out there is boxing is still big," Schaefer said. "Bigger today maybe than it has been in a long time."
